This mini series was inspired by an ethereal, nymph-like air. This photoshoot was done during icky, cold, and damp weather. After our unseasonably warm weather during the week prior to the day of the session it was definitely a drastic change. Five minutes into the photoshoot my model Smith was starting to get soaked and my hat was absolutely drenched. By the end of it, we were freezing and had obviously been outside in a rainstorm for far too long. My assistant was an absolute trooper and was the most prepared with rain boots and a rain slicker.
Jonathan's session was designed around his love of the outdoors and music. I had a mental picture of him surrounded by tall trees with gorgeous golden hour sunlight behind him. Thankfully he was willing to trek through tick and poison ivy infested woods in one of our state parks to get the shot.
Isabelle is an absolute doll. She's one of the cutie patootiest gals around. I personally love her sense of style, so I designed her session around showcasing her colorful personality in an urban environment. We went to our local downtown New London to photograph alongside a few of the murals and different environmental mediums. The wind was quite enamored with her hat, but in all honesty, who wouldn't be!
CJ and Juanita are two of the sweetest people I know. Together they make a power couple like no other. Cute doesn't quite describe them accurately. Actively pursuing equality and each other which results in SUPER sweetness?
Siobhán is the owner of The Eyeglass Lass, an eccentric eyeglass boutique in downtown New London, CT. I am the proud owner of one of her pairs! I highly recommend checking out her store if you are looking for a great statement piece. Us four eyes have to stick together!
For Riho's session I wanted to showcase more of the surrounding environment. I liked the structure and lines where we did her session, so I wanted to emphasize them with how I positioned Riho in the photographs. I wanted to create a portrait that showcased her personality through her clothing (take a good look at her shoes! They're super cute!) while also complimenting her surroundings.
Arian is an absolutely stunning up and coming model in Massachusettes who I had the pleasure of working with during my time at Hallmark.
My friend Noah is a talented musician pursuing an education in the acting world. At the beginning of 2017 he released his first EP "Courage Doesn't Have to Roar." If you like an indie flamenco twist, I recommend clicking the link and listening to his work!
Shane is undoubtedly the nicer sibling. I can say that because I'm his little sister: I know these things. A gentle giant pursuing an acting degree, and then career. If anybody can make it, it's Shane. He has that whole modern day Rat Pack feel to him. Can you tell?
Danielle is an absolute force of nature and, really, very cool. She works with kids in an outdoor focused classroom and her family is full of avid sailors. For her session I wanted to highlight her love for nature and nod at her sea loving roots.
Flower crowns and beaches. Add in a sweet couple to the mix and you have a beautiful session on your hands! Darcy and Evan fit quite well together, much like puzzle pieces.

Sometimes all that you need is a field, a leotard, and Rapunzel hair.
While going through Kalia's photos I realized that in many of them I left plenty of wide, open space above and around her head. This isn't something new for me. I like to leave plenty of extra space around my subjects, especially if the area surrounding them is "clean" and empty. It's a repeated theme I've noticed in my portraits over the past year.
